Time to Move: How to Ensure 'Mobility' Translates to 'Agility'

CIOs realize they need to boost the productivity of mobile employees while minimizing associated support costs. However, not everyone knows where to start building an enterprise mobility strategy—a big problem because mobility is driving user behavior, and to remain competitive, businesses must enable employees to communicate and share data on the move.

In this report, we'll explain how to develop a plan that addresses three goals:

- Boost the productivity of an increasingly mobile workforce by enabling employees to respond more quickly and effectively to customer and business needs.

- Use the organization’s network and communications infrastructure to reduce the costs of voice and telecom services.

- Harness wireless and mobility capabilities to leapfrog competitors and offer unique customer value.

In a nutshell, we all want more productivity and business agility for less money. To get there, we've devised a methodology to help you get defined, measurable value from enterprise mobility. In this report, we'll explore that methodology, which comprises three phases:

- Determine your mobility profile. This is the first step in creating a mobility road map. Your profile addresses what you need to support a mobile workforce and your capacity to enable business processes with mobility.

- Next, you need to develop a strategic enterprise mobility framework to ensure that architecture alignment, integrated systems, business process integration and continuous innovation are all in place to support the strategy moving forward.

- Finally, perform an in-depth self-assessment to fully understand the operational competencies needed to successfully address the challenges of deploying enterprise mobility. Competencies include, but are not limited to, IT services operations, secure user access and infrastructure.

Together, these steps will help CIOs enact an enterprise mobility strategy that delivers improved productivity, reduced capital and operating expenditures, and increased strategic agility to maintain a competitive advantage.
