Corporate America has made some painful adjustments over the past year, but for data center managers, the pressure to contain costs has always been unrelenting—it’s impossible to maintain a low profile when your area of responsibility consumes the bulk of the IT budget. This year in particular, though, we’re really feeling the heat, and not just from over-loaded racks. Just 30% of the 370 respondents to our latest InformationWeek Analytics data center survey say they’ll see larger budgets for 2010 compared with 2009, yet half expect resource demands to increase.

Kenneth Miller has more than 15 years of executive-level experience implementing complex IT systems and is adept at developing and driving strategic technological direction for a wide range of enterprises. Currently, Mr. Miller is data center architect with the IT Infrastructure and Operation Services division of Midwest ISO, developing mission-critical facilities.

Mr. Miller also leads the IT and business consulting practice of Thinx, including leading feasibility studies and developing large-scale IT capital projects for executive management. Prior to Thinx, Mr. Miller was chief technology officer of n|Frame, a provider of IT business continuity services, including high-availability and high-performance IT infrastructure and e-commerce systems. As CTO, he was responsible for development of the next generation of n|Frame products and services, as well the longterm technical vision and roadmap for the company.

Prior to joining n|Frame, Mr. Miller was president and founder of Data Communications Consulting, an IT consulting practice. Mr. Miller directed the company's enterprise communications practice, focusing on applying new data and telecommunications technologies to solve high-profile business challenges.
